1. Carolina – Kimbra – A kitchen sink approach to indie pop with sounds layered upon sounds, a funky back beat, shimmering stuff shimmering and is that birds chirping at the end? A fun ride but not her best song – B-

2. You Are A Mystery To Me – Orenda Fink – Lo fi haunting beauty full of the mystery it wonders about – B

3. Devil’s Been Talking – NEEDTOBREATH – Modern rock and roll Christian style, works because the singer is a goodie and the songs are pretty good, including this one – B+

4. The Vanishing Race – Rhiannon, Gillian welch, David Rawlings – Gillian and David were the best thing about that neo-folk show at Town Hall last year, and Rhiannon is, if anything, a better singer – B

5. Cold Cold Man – Saint Motel – Remain one knock out melody away from mainstream success – B-

6. Gut Bucket Blues – Dr. John – Not crazy about all this Satchmo re-arranging – C+

7. Here Comes The Night Time – Arcade Fire – They should re-record this, it is mighty fine and could be finer – A-

8. We Dem Boyz = Wiz Khalifa – “…we making noise”? – C

9. The Unicorns (I Was Born A Unicorn) – The Unicorns – Twee indie rock but not unpleasant – B

10. La Nuit Dans L’ile – Ute Lemper – Sounds more French than German – B
