How good was the Yeezus gig?
I caught it twice and if it wasn’t for the crappy weather last week would’ve have gone for # 3 to Prudential. It was everything Kanye West claimed it would be, it is why he is a true genius, a wild trip of self awareness and pain and brutal sounds and brutal attacks in a dark world of pyramids and masks.
Yeah, I saw it twice and actually taped it as well and I gotta say it is all that and improves every time I listen to it, a sheer out there art pop project and if you missed it, you missed the best hip hop gig since Odd Future at the Hammerstein a couple of years ago. Suffice to add that Kanye blew Kendrick Lamar so far off stage it wasn’t even vaguely amusing.
Really, everybody feels like a bit of a pretender when it comes to Kanye, there hasn’t been an album as good as Yeezus since then and most hip hop albums, a Danny Brown and Earl Sweatshirt here and there is the exception and not the rule, are a mix of the dark hued children of Wu tracks and vicious Lil Wayne brag and drag. Kanye is something else entirely.
So here comes news that Kanye is releasing the movie of the tour and take a look at the coming attraction below and decide whether you can afford to miss it all again. I say no!
