
Now this is a biggie for Four Knots. To be dead honest, it is their biggest ever. Wales’ fave Super Furry Animals, a band I put a tier below Manic Street Preachers but that’s it, came back on active duty in 2014, and haven’t played the States since 2009. This will be their first stateside gig since then and honestly, I couldn’t be more thrilled.
The band are a groovy psychedelic jam band UK style, with album after album, with a weirdly experimental seitgeist that really compares to nothing else you’ve heard, they crash between Gong and Paul weller, they sound like everything you find typical in UK rock, the large riffs and then pushing voices, the plastics lyrics and the hard drugs, but they go elsewhere and their songs devalue fast but not completely.
This puts the entire day in a much better light. I mean, sure, I realize Mikal Cronin alone would have been worth twenty five bucks, but this ups the level of excitement right through the, er not roof, sky.

The Village Voice proudly announces Super Furry Animals as the headlining act for its fifth annual 4Knots Music Festival, being held on July 11, 2015 at Pier 84 in Hudson River Park from 1PM – 10PM, rain or shine. This will be Super Furry Animals’ first NYC show in 6 years. Mikal Cronin, Twin Peaks, Happyness, Meatbodies, and Heaters are also scheduled to perform, plus more bands to be announced soon.
Working together with Friends of Hudson River Park, the festival will be located at Pier 84,their largest public pier, which features sweeping views of New York City and the Hudson River. For the first time, 4Knots Music Festival will be a ticketed show, offering low ticket prices with proceeds benefiting the Park.

This year’s 4Knots will feature two tiers of ticket options – General Admission tickets (all ages) ($25) and VIP tickets (21+) ($50). Kids under 10 are free with an adult.
