ok I have yet another confession to make… I like remakes. I know its stupid and I know its unhip but as you can see by my earlier list…with Pretty in Pink and the Boxer, truth is I like songs Ive heard on tv or in someone elses car done by someone else.
So
Well I really like the ‘Punk Goes….’ series. AND in researching this confession I discovered these are done by……Fearless Records. GO FREAKIN FIGURE… Im trending with those guys
Anyway it begain with Punk Goes 80s of course, and Sugarcults version of Melt with You or Motion City Soundtrack doing Pop Song 89 gave this ol’ gal the ability to sing lyrics she knew…….with bands she hadnt heard of. BONUS! Shush
So … Punk goes Crunkknow we have All Time Low singing Umbrella, Men in Black 2 done by Forever the Sickest kKs.. I would have NEVER listened to the originals on these songs but love these..and again.. bonus ..new bands.
Punk goes Pop 2… I Kissed a Girl by Attack Attack, Love Song by Four Year Strong? NICE!!
So ok well there you go. In some cases it helps to hear old songs done by new bands and sometime its cool to hear new songs out of your realm done by new faves.
I know ‘compilations’ are iffy, I loved Rhino’s…I did not love K-Tells (but I did love the commercials and still do you can see them online!) but the Punk Goes series (hey Todd they have Punk goes Metal!!) is worth seeking out.
