Helen Back gives thanks on the UnTurkey Day…
As we enter the week of Thanksgiving some of you are planning menus, some are making travel plans, some are stocking up on booze cuz family is coming, but despite the turkey and pilgrim stuff we do have alot to be thankful for
I’m thankful that Justin Furstenfeld toured through CT and I got to see him speak to him and see Blue October perform
I’m thankful that in tough economic times I was still able to see 40 shows+
I’m thankful Weezer put out a new album
I’m thankful Bob Seger did not
I’m thankful that iTunes got easier to use or that I got more computer savvy
I’m thankful for Newbury Comics and the ability to buy used cd’s and not feel shmarmy
I’m thankful for headphones so I can blast music at work and not worry about my office mates
I’m thankful for bands who roady their own gigs and then come back to the stage like stars
I’m thankful for Warped Tour and the diversity within it (please don’t change)
I’m thankful for still having a semi open mind and trying out new forms of music
I’m thankful for the venues that wont give up who continue to book the underdogs earning just enough to keep the power on.
I’m thankful for the local hardcore scene and the wide eyed optimism they show
I’m thankful for guys in eye liner…….wait wait.. skip that one
I’m thankful to Robert Nevin for hooking Michael Nessing and I up with Iman
I’m thankful to you for reading
and mostly I’m thankful to be part of the future of ROCK NYC.
