This years nominees are enough to make you wonder if you woke last night to the sound of thunder…Bob Seger, Gordon Lightfoot and Jim Steinman.
Gordon Lightfoot is killer. The dude wrote the Edmund Fitzgerald one of THE funniest lyrics of all time. How any sing song story could literally crack me up is pure literary magic.
Bob Seger? Well I dont want to ge this people all up in nutty cuz I worry about their health anyway but I suppose he did some good for music to some. I guess maybe if "Night Moves" had better vocals it would have been ok.
Jim Steinman? You have no idea who he is do you? Of course not, cuz out of the lot he doesnt sing- HE WRITES. And has written some pretty standard standards, Total Eclipse of the Heart, Making Love Out of Nothing at All, It's All Coming Back to Me Now and his numerous compositions for Meat Loaf.
Songwriter Hall of Fame chairman Jimmy Webb said of the inductees, "Each of our 2012 inductees has created a unique range of extraordinary contributions, a body of work that has resonated with audiences around the world, and greatly enriched our global culture. We are looking forward to celebrating their craft and careers at our Annual Awards Gala."
"Fella's it's been good to know yaaaaaa…"
