We at rocknyc are not fans of ‘awards shows’.  They seldom represent anything other than mundane and I  for one see no point in winners and losers.  If I like something I like it and  no award (or lack of award) will change that.

But hey MTV does care and despite not having anything at all to do with music they have the right to serve up their annual awards.  Guess who owns it- JT! That ‘bring it on down to Veganville’ hero Justin Timberlake who has scored 6 nominations.  Before you throw a conga line so did Macklemore and Ray.  Not sure how that happened but they’re up for six as well.  Lets face it, ‘Thrift Shop’ was a fun song but are they in the same boat and Justin?  No.

The show will take place at Brooklyn’s Barclay Center on Sunday August 25th.
