Liam Gallagher is to John Lennon what Brian Fallon is to Bruce Springsteen.
Yeah ok there are moments when their voices are interchangeable but what is the benefit of that? Will a die hard Springsteen fan love Gaslight? I doubt it.
I teetered on the edge of being a fan of Gaslight Anthem. They had a couple interesting songs and a cute (though blonde) lead singer but now? They're no longer iPod worthy. The gritty Jersey vocals coupled with the so so sound of the backing band make me wonder who actually is a fan of these guys? I mean I know they're popular enough to play Glastonbury though I question the frail audience approval in the below video.
The 'new' song by the band titled "Biloxi Parish" is a rock song with no definition. Its been done before, I have heard this a thousand times with different lyrics and as uncatagorizing is as pigeonholed as it is.
This is generic radio worthy rock and roll. This is the Ford pick up of music. We all know someone who loves them, but it doesnt turn my head when it goes by. I don't consider my musical tastes so eclectic that I cant appreciate generic background sound. I think I just really wish there was more to it. They entered with so much hype but now its gone.
I will file this in the NIckelbackFrayMaroonFive category and get on with my life. Here is the video of a lackluster performance of a lackluster song by a lackluster band.

This did not age well. Undermines just about any opinion you could have. There is lyrical genius weaves through more songs than most top artists will ever recognize
