Well “The Vagina Monologues” by Eve Ansler seemed to deal with it very thoroughly.Besides which, why is it worse than calling a man the “d” word. But which I mean Dick, or prick, and which I can say all day long. See? dick,prick,dick, prick.
So that leaves the “f” word” Faggot. A slur against homosexuals, I am not quite sure why the gay community is so up in arms over it. In hip hop it is usually used to suggest weakness, like “pussy” which, I guess, who cares really. It is a million miles from saying, “you weak, you can’t take a bullet up the nostril you faggot” and saying “hey faggot, Imma kill you for having a boyfriend”. Equating being gay with being weak is stupid true, but as long as you are equating being female with being weak and, etc, etc, it doesn’t seem born out of hatred.
The gay community managed to change queer from being a slur to being a badge of pride, between the sexual revolution and the AIDs epidemic the gay community got really really good at street politics, but they’ve had more problems with faggot.

This also was used as a verb.”
Two things here: to suggest that men who like men have similar sexual traits to the norm (we could debate it, but I have long thought homosexuality an aberration on the sexual mores, though it might not even be that) of women who find men sexually attractive. Why the hatred for homosexuals, I can take a guess or two (latent desire for instance) though surely it means less competition in the never ending search for women.
Neither Christianity nor Islam have much love for homosexuals. Sha’riah law says homosexuals should be put to death and the Rastas didn’t much care for gays either. Considering 10% of the world is gay that’s a lot of hatred going down. Indeed, I would say that in the world of hatred gays are right up there.
