week 45
Live: A week later, the Allman Brothers penultimate show doesn’t feel like the huge let down it did at the same: really, 180 minutes of music isn’t that terrible and really Gregg had all his powers brought back to him: but it wasn’t the three set extravaganza I’d have gotten if I’d made it to the last last last show.
Recorded: The Arthur Russell Red + Hot charity album wins the week hands down, no questions asked. A masterpiece of electronics and experimental tribute to a dead master.
Sports: The Giants won the world Series, and I bet the Royals, if I never hear the name Bumgarner it will be too soon
New York City: Hey, what happened to Ebola and dead pedestrians? Not to mention that Malaysian plane they never found.
Television: Taylor Swift on The Voice, so I took a look and shouldn’t have bothered. These talent shows miss one important thing: anyone with talent.
Time: We fell back and between Jerry Lee at 79 and Gregg allman hanging it up, it is a depressingly growing olderly type of week. I wonder what will happen when I can’t do rock nyc any more, when I finally run out of steam and it just dies. You woke your ife to leave something, maybe kids, maybe a business, maybe a good name, something. but it doesn’t really matter.
