Live: From the better never than late department, Governors Ball took up so much of last week, three days, and something like 30 miles of walking between stages, 37 sets viewed, etc, etc, etc, this recap is well late. What can I say about Governors Ball that I haven’t said? See you next year, that’s what I can say.
Movies: If Edward Huerta can be trusted, and of course he is to be trusted, the Brian Wilson movie “Love And Mercy” is a big time keeper, but if you think Edward is in his buddy Brian’s pocket, the always irritable Consequence Of Sound gave it an “A-“.
Recorded: One of the worst weeks for new music, Florence, Dawes, Major Lazer -none of em made it in the long run and by the long run I mean a week.
News: Lady killer and murderer Richard Matt cons a prison warden, and along with murderer and murderer David Sweat and some power tools burrow underground and leave the prison in the great escape. How is this possible? If they hadn’t embraced crime you can’t help feeling these guys coulda done anything with their lives.
Sports: The rule in baseball is: win every series. But the Yanks just go on wild winning and losing streaks. At the moment they are winning.
Theatre: And the winner is… “Fun Home”.
