That Was The Week Of October 14th, 2013 That Was

Party At Pianos At CMJ

Live: The CMJ Festival came about as close to taking over the city as humanly possible, Saturday afternoon on Ludlow Street you could wander from one gig to another all day long. It is one of my favorite times of the year -it’s like Christmas Eve. The best discovery, even if I already knew about them, was Arms and the best I’d never heard of was Margot MacDonald. Cheers to Big Picture for keeping everything on the boil.

Recorded: Two old timers ruled the world,  Paul McCartney and Pearl Jam, you might not like either but if you don’t then the chances are excellent that you don’t much care for these guys as a whole because if you do like them you should thoroughly enjoy these additions to the canon.

National News: In one of the very worst political moves ever, the Republican Party had a showdown with the President and gained nothing for the showdown. How can you bluff when everyone has seen your hand and there are no more cards in the pack. Meanwhile, my health insurance is going up next year… exactly as I assumed it would.

Local News: As Stephen Colbert noted, only in nyc can a Lesbian be considered to conservative to be Mayor. Meanwhile, Lhota is the worst Republican ever.

Sports: May I just say how much I hate the Red Sox and the Patriots (and Celtics). Really, cmon New York.
