Week 5
Live: With my friend Jahn Xavier, I went to the Allen Room at Lincoln Center and was floored by Jason Isbel’s “American Songbook” set. You can see it for yourself as part of the PBS “Live From Lincoln Center” program when it airs later this year, till then take my word, it was a career defining masterpiece.
Recorded: Quite a lot of indie pop released this week, Quilt, Hospitality, Dum Dum Girls, Peggy Sue, but, despite complaints over the production on both of these albums, I’d give it to David Crosby and Drowners.
Weather: Finally, after freezing in the teens for a couple of weeks, the cold spell broke and it was a balmy 40 degrees!
National: The State of the Union address was a depressing affair, I think Obama was taking a break from the non stop action of the first administration.
Local: And so Christie begins the great descent and why? Because of a traffic jam.
Sports: The Superbowl and where were all teams? Playing golf in Hawaii if they had any sense.
