Week: 36
Live: I had a quiet week, but if I was in London I’d have been checking out art rocker turned hofstra Kate Bush, a singer I like much more in theory than in practice. Still, who first gig in more than decades was a theatrical event alright. Kate’s problem is the same as it ever was, she isn’t as good as I think she is. Plus… No “Wuthering Heights”???
Recorded: As US punters bought less than 4 million albums last week, the choices weren’t so great it came as any big shocker nothing is moving very well. when Wiz Khalifa is the best you have to offer America at large it sure makes sense to not buy music, doesn’t it?
National Holiday: After summer of non stop gorgeous weather, Labor Day weekend was a little on the meh side, hot and cloudy. Seconds away from buying a tix to the US Open in Flushing, I looked out the window and had second thoughts. All I needed was hours of rain delays.
Sports: The Mets are just about done, the Yanks, four games out of the wild card, the Jets and the Giants have had atrocious pre-seasons and if Melo is the answer, what is the question?
Movies: Sin City is the best you have to offer? Ticket sales are down 7% from last year and the summer was a disaster and while I might well claim that the problem is the quality of the movies, apparently Rotten Tomatoes doesn’t agree. Then what??
