To say Strait gets Petty is to underestimate how Strait transforms it to the sort of country rock you just plain don’t hear anymore. For one thing, all you need to get Strait rocking is the word “ridin'” and he is off: “Tonight we ride, right or wrong”

Sheeran’s songs still go on to long and he still is the weariest and unsexists of teenage hearthrobs but opening for Swift he is exactly what you want, a very enjoyable preparation for the main event performed with a minimum of fuss and a maximum of skill and pleasure
Taylor gave her fans a superbly crafted set. A just about perfect two hours of pop rock with a good band and a minimum of acoustic hi-jinx. She treated her young fans with all the love and respect while, impossible to overstate this, streamlining the Speak Now aesthetics to a fine point, a study in simple design well executed and the least indulgent, most creative arena rock show anywhere
BIGBAND never bored, but they never enchanted either. They were a generic genre that never jumped to a place where what it means to be Korean informed what it means to be in a boy band. They were not overawed by playing for an American audience. But they lacked heart.
If this is the state of the art, the art is coming into its own. As it works the fringe and the edge of pop music, metal is now left entirely to its own devices and it has become a counter-culture staple with offshoots and offshoots on offshoots, but rules firmly to be adhered to. it was like being trapped in the soundbooth at Z100. Nothing much going on at all, he wasn’t doing anything serious with the beats and thsi is a (reportedly) serious guy, but he was an irrelevant time keeper at the LMFAO.
Eva capturing lightning in a bottle and the mix going very , very House. In the age of dubstep, Eva is a little old fashioned but if you are more interested in songs than beats, House is a better place for you and the audience agreed as they dance wildly to every song.
They were better than I expected, skimming the cream of the cuts, they shuffled their set, opening with “I Party” and building to a full throated very dirty bass “Girls On The Dancefloor” before a shockingly great “Like A G6” -the ghostly hue of the single, was completely transformed on stage
The energy isn’t “without end” it is kinetic and bottled up and every song is a singalong. It is an amazing trick, shallow drunken, snatch chasers as sweet unassuming rock and roll stars!
By the end of the set, the overwhelming smash down finale “Sun” , with a mix of dance and chants, they’ve sold me enough to wanna see them with the damn lights on.
After the gig, I was rushing to grab the train and got on the wrong one. By the time I noticed my mistake I was at Newark Airport, disoriented and not happy to be there. That’s exactly how i feel about Radiohead.

Imagine the Runaways if they were lead by Lita Ford and deeply influenced by MIA and you have an idea of the excitement and wonder that is Sleigh Bells -one of the best bands around
