A coupla things you should know about DJ Sidney Samson
1. He is Dutch
2. He's been doing this since he was 14 years
3. I didn't take the pix, I didn't have a good one and this is from a different gig.
4. Sidney Samson is his real name.
5. He's a crowd pleaser who knows what side of the bread the butter is on.
That's the only thing to explain his press a button DJ set Friday night. Back in 2009, I saw David Guetta open for Black Eyed Peas, this was before people had put Guetta and "I Gotta Feeling" together, and with a set that went from Eurotrash 80s pop to Cameo and back, he killed it. They had to cut the mic on him. When Will I AM did his solo DJ set he looked like an amateur. Guetta did whatever he wanted and became an immediate sensation.
Samson sucked.
From the before mentioned "Feeling" to "Somebody That I Used To Know" to "Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)" (for fuck's sake, at least roll out Marilyn Manson's cover) to "Niggaz In Paris', it was like being trapped in the soundbooth at Z100. Nothing much going on at all, he wasn't doing anything serious with the beats and this is a (reportedly) serious guy, but he was an irrelevant time keeper at the LMFAO.
Samson may well be great, I really couldn't tell you.
