I read somewhere that with Letterman gone and Jon Stewart going, and the Two Jimmys and a James full of fluff and stuff, Seth Meyers has a small window before Stephen Colbert tries to swallow up the political late night arena. I went to a taping a while back and Seth was awful BUT, he had hardly been on stage two weeks at the time. Perhaps now is the time to give him another chance, especially with Jamie xx appearing on Monday.
I don’t think we are ready to colonize the red planet anytime soon, it will take a while until we solve all the technical problems, but this is the ultimate dream of humanity. In the video, like in reality, the journey is slow and long but you have to be patient, and once we are flying over the red planet’s surface, it’s breathtaking
Loud Places – Jamie xx and Rony – I prefer this to “All Under One Roof Raving” not because it is better but because I am old fashioned and it is a clearer delineated song… a soulful song as well, with a great vocal and a memorable melody, where “Rave” is a weird contraption that works despite itself – B+
One of Costello’s lowest moments, was his destructive comments about the former Transvision Vamp’s lead singer. She asked him to write a song for her and instead, with his wife, he wrote an album. Wendy gave pretty steady readings of them. Elvis hated them and recorded them himself, not half as well. Here is the best of them, a class structured Lady Chatterley’s lover of a song – A-
