the afternoon weekend concert is dead
surprised Billie remains on top
amongst the greatest work of his entire career
more than just historic purposes
‘It was a perfect way to spend lockdown. It made me do Rockdown!’
‘Gregg Allman and the Allman Brothers just about put me in the White House’
Name an iconic song and you have an illegal use of a song
Plenty of that guitar
Beware Of Darkness – George Harrison – This is the early demo version and it wasn’t waiting for much, George is already pushing you in puddles in the dead of night -I really regret that line not making the final cut. A perfect mix of the mystical and the methodical horrors of life – A+
I bought the lot on CD in 2004 (they dribbled em out) and they are phenomenal. Whatever problems the dumb and the restless might have had with Extra Texture in 1975 feels like a complete in 2015, all these albums sound so great, the songs are filled with love and wit, and Harrison’s croaky vocals, and God. They are terrific from one end to another. Who would you rather listen to?
The thought of Brandon Flowers singing anything at all fills me with a wearying dream as though nothing I do is worth the effort and perhaps the best thing I can do is embrace the not beware of the darkness. Because really, it is all futile any way, none of it helps and none of it matters.
According to the LA Times, a very ironic thing happened recently: Los Angeles Councilman Tom LaBonge told the LA Times over the weekend that the pine tree died as the result of an insect infestation… yeah, the beetles killed it! The tree was already 10 feet tall but according to the Times many trees in Griffith Park have been the victims of bark beetles and ladybug beetles
The tree had grown to ten feet tall as of 2013, but could not resist the onslaught of tree beetles (primarily bark beetles and ladybug beetles) that are common in Griffith Park. Though no date has been set, an LA City Councilman stated that the tree would be replanted.
Bent Nail – Nothing – This sounds like shoe gaze yes, but shoe gaze with an attack that is sometimes missing in other bands and a vocal higher in the mix than we’re used to – A-
