Arguably the best live band in New York City, I’ve been a fan of Shinobi Ninja since, why since 2009 when I interview them barely six months after their formation. I thought they were great then and I think they’re great now. The are a powerful rock and hop band with two turntables and a microphone, a drummer who cut his teeth in metal and two great rappers.
On record, 2010’s Rock Hood didn’t quite capture their live performance, though “Stop” came damn close. There was an App, Mike Machinest fed me the occasional demo, including a killer track “Rusty Stab”, videos have dropped, concerts have been played and of course, the awesome “Amped To 12” made an appearance in the Wayan Brothers movie “Scary Movie 2”.
But now, finally, here comes Escape From New York, the sophomore effort by the hyper brilliant Shinobi Ninja. I have higher than high expectations for this one, indeed I think it is gonna blow your socks off.
More SN news: “Tuesday starts the 1 week countdown to the release of our second album, “Escape From New York”!!!!! Who’s pumped? We’ll start the clock by dropping a fresh new music video for our tune SAVE US. To make this bad boy, we captured super hyped up footage from our shows at SXSW, The Catalpa Music Festival in New York, and The High School Nation tour on the west coast. ”
