I live in an area that is home to a pretty big stadium. The trashy neighbors a few blocks away let people park on the their laws for extra cash. I hate it. To me its just vile but hey I suppose they earn a pretty penny by doing so.
Now imagine if you had four acres in San Jose and you wanted to use it as a parking lot for Coachella. Now THAT is a prettier penny. That’s not 5 cars on your lawn at $40 bucks a pop this is literally hundreds of cars.
That’s what Sara and Victor Cuecuecha have and they wanted to use for some profit making. On March 14 the Planning Commission unanimously denied the couple a permit to operate the lot as a parking facility for concertgoers attending Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival April 13-15 & 20-22 and the Stagecoach country music festival April 27-29.
In past years the couple charged up to $20 to park on the vacant lot and made more than $8,000 “on a good night,” For eight grand I’d be pissed too. “I feel really that my property rights have been usurped,” Sara Cuecuecha told The Desert Sun. “I can’t do anything with my property. I have a lot of issues with this.”
But wait.. the reason for the decline is the fun part!
A change in traffic and pedestrian flow” means concert goers will not be walking along Monroe Street near the couple’s vacant lot into the Empire Polo Grounds, according to the newspaper. The Desert Sun also reported that the city has been working with the area’s residents regarding concerns “such as jaywalkers and trespassers who urinate and defecate on property and ride people’s animals.”
So I guess Im lucky no one is peeing in my yard and riding my dog. Small favors. Poor Cuecuechas! Hopefully they find another way to earn some dough. Oh and who the hell defecates on peoples lawns anyway?
