On Friday morning, LA radio KCRW debuted ‘Man on Fire’, a new song of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.
It starts like a mellow ballad with acoustic guitar, drenched in background vocal harmonies behind Alex Ebert’s soothing voice, before the folk tune wakes up after a build-up, agitates itself like a dance invitation with weird and exotic background sounds, even ending up with a country feeling. There is a lot going on in all this, and it sure follows the band’s spirit with its uplifting and super comforting vibe, you just can visualize their big ensemble doing this catchy and amazing song live, and I imagine it will turn into their usual festive number.
‘Man on Fire’ is the new single off their upcoming album ‘Here’, which will be released on May 29, and if all the songs are as strong as this one, it should be a good one. Meanwhile catch Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros on tour, this is how they should be heard,… live:
