Rock NYC got an email from Paul Finn, the owner of Odessa records. He wrote:
“You don’t know me but I just released the Spider Bags’ newest single “Teenage Eyed” and I think it may be their best single song yet…well after Waking Up Drunk (but I’m biased…I wrote one of the verses!)”.
Having written a verse of “Waking Up Drunk” instantaenously makes Finn cooler than you and I combined. Releasing songs by the Spider Bags makes him cooler still, and releasising a single called “Teenage Eyes” makes him coolest of em all. Finn went on to write:
“Anyway, just wanted to let you know that another band on my label, Americans in France is playing at Silent Barn in Brooklyn on Sunday 11/8 – very soon! And there is a connection – Josh Lajoie, lead singer/guiat player for AIF designed the artwork & cover for “Goodbye Cruel World…” and he also often catsits for Dan McGee.”
I will absolutely listen to Americans In France and Rock NYC will keep you readers informed about what appears to be a first rate indie. Because, really, if you don’t love the Spier Bags the chances are excellent you loath Rock NYC.
By the way, I did buy Goodbye Cruel World, Hello Crueler World and it is everything I hoped it would be and from time to time it sounds like the Stones in country mode circa 1971. About as large a praise as I can muster at 635am. I couldn’t find “Teenaged Eye” on teenage Itunes, Perhaps Paul will be kind enough as to tell us where to buy it.
