Village Gate Owner Art D’Lugoff Dies at Age 85

I was sorry to hear that jazz club the Village Gate owner Art D’Lugoff died on Wednesday at the age of eighty five.

The Village Gate at the corner of Bleeker and Thompson was the Village Vanguard’s scruffy kid brother from 1958 till 1994 when -like the Bottom Line after them, they got chased out of business.
