Must See: Art Garfunkel At Carnegie Hall, October 3rd, 2015 (Plus Setlist)

Far be it from me to start a fight with the angelic voiced Art Garfunkel, a man I’ve seen with Paul Simon a number of times but never solo, and a man I would choose over nearly one in concert right this moment, if only because I’ve never had the opportunity (and I’ve been looking for him for years now) and I want to hear what is left of that voice. Quite a lot of voice  rumor has it. A show at the acoustically marvelous (though seating shoehorned) Carnegie Hall should be a thing of extreme joy. But the setlist? All we’re getting is “99 Miles from LA” off easily his best album? Why?

Another why… why so much Simon And Garfunkel, why not dig into Angel Clare and Breakaway and not come up for air? Sure, everybody loves “Homeward Bound”, but you can’t throw a brick without hitting Paul Simon singing it somewhere. I wanna here songs from Art’s back pages.

So, to go or not to go? Well, there is only to go, of course. This is an absolute must see, especially after the fear Art wouldn’t sing again and years of rehabbing the pipes, this is a very thrilling thing.

Stlll.. “The Sound Of Silence”? I’d rather hear “Rag Doll” or “Disney Girls”…  and why we do get “All I Know” from that first album, 10 of these songs are associated with Paul Simon….
