This is a top of the line line up, indeed, until Kendrick tours with Kanye again, or Jay Z with Lil Wayne, it is hard to imagine better and even that might not do it. With the exception of Tyler the Creator everybody is at the very top of their powers: A$AP Rocky’s At Long Last is excellent, Danny Brown has a fabulous new song just released (“Worth It”) and the opener, Vince Staple, is responsible for the best hip hop album of the year Summer Of 06,
And they are all together at Theatre AT Madison Square Garden on Tuesday September 22nd. You missed the presale where I got my ticket from, but the general sale is tomorrow at 10am.
It is a little strange sort of a line up, right? Half Odd Future and half Fool’s Gold, and really very very strong stuff, this is what I love to listen to when I listen to rap. It is a pretty good time for hip hop overall, the only problem I see is the constant bragging, at a certain point it sounds a little desperate to me.
Whatever, if you love rap this is the show and without a doubt, I’d rather see this than Beyonce at Global Citizen. The only thing missing is Rod Stewart -they should invite him, you know. He might do it.
