MusiCares Artists Giving Back… Sorta

Need tickets to a concert?  Hit up Tickets-For-Charity first.  Numerous artists, including the Doobie Brothers and Taylor Swift are using this service as a way of giving to their favorite charity.  Heres how it works, the artist claims some of the best in the house seats, they tack on a small amount say, $10.00 to the face value on the ticket.  The benefit you get a great seat and the charity gets your $10.00.

A pretty nifty idea if you really wanted a better seat or if you really support the charity.  I find this much better than the unilateral charitable value some bands add to tickets what if I'm not down with their cause?    Its also better than Katy Perry who just keeps them for own use.  God forbid we just lower the ticket fee all together and tack a fee to meet face value, that would be too philanthropic.

(fyi you can get them for sporting events too)

“We’re honored to involve such a talented group of performing artists, representing multiple genres and generations, in this important campaign,” Recording Academy President/CEIO Neil Portnow said in a statement. “Funds raised through these tours on Tickets-For-Charity will help support MusiCares’ goal of raising $5 million to complete our historic $15 million campaign. These funds will enable MusiCares to reach more people in need, both those working behind the scenes and those who are in the spotlight of our vibrant music community.”
