Moz in LA: I wasn’t there but the Twitter was

Swan Song?
Swan Song?

We on the East Coast have to wait until June but the West Coast got a fine dose of Mozzer on Wednesday night and I gotta say from the look of things… you had to be there to appreciate it.

Now don’t get me wrong- Moz can do no wrong, but with a rather uninspired set list and a bankers suit… what the hell is up?

My fear is this is the swan song tour.  Bring a couple idols on board (Tom Jones, Cliff Richards) give the kids a final album and pack it up.  Despite the incredible buzz from the Moz Army and the post concert high, there is an underlying…yawn.

This was, of course, the first night.  But isnt that your adrenaline fueled power play show?  Let’s put it this way… the stage crashers infamous for hopping on stage for a hug at encore were so over zealous that Moz simply left.  Granted it was after the tune but regardless.. no fan fair, and adios.

When are the fanatics going to drop it a notch? 100 20 year old boys throwing themselves at a 55 year old man with a cranky disposition gets old if its not controlled and I am pretty damn sure Morrissey is going to put the ax to this pretty quick in favor of pre determined fans escorted up  in say.. 5 per show chosen rather than free for all.  Which is sad- but with the force of these fans you cant even blame him.    Even the fucking Pope needed to get a Pope Mobile.

But hey, he is the MOZziah, and we are nothing but his disciples.  He looks fit and old and wise.  He shows no real interaction with the crowd or not in what I have seen and well.. the set list, have I mentioned the freakin set list?!  C’mon our lad rethink that before you head our way please.

He did unleash new music– which was an outright bore.  The video (well done to whomever scored this!) shows a solemn, bored and distracted Moz delivering a new tune with about as much gusto as the delivery of a bagel in a drive through– here ya go, carry on.

OK OK, I wasn’t there and all of this is based upon a group of people from the UK who made the pilgrimage to see the King but still.  So I will leave the rest of his gigs to the other writers out there until my show which isJune 7th.  And on that day.. things will be better, of that I am sure.

Appropriate Final Tune and a Prophecy As well!
