Maroon 5’s “Sugar” Reviewed

Some ideas are so great, you can’t help but want to share them EVEN IF YOU KNOW EVERY SINGLE PERSON WHO WANTS TO SEE IT HAS ALREADY SEEN IT. That’s the case with Maroon 5’s fabulous “Sugar” video (I know, I’ve never written about videos before and now  in two days…).

Directed by the man who brought us “The Wedding Crashers” David Dobkin, in early December last year some deal with hotels having weddings were done whereby the band snuck into the receptions, set up secretly while the family freaked out, and then played a surprise song for them.

This is a huge huge hugely pleasant idea, the sheer joy of the wedding parties at the crashers showing up, the look of amazement on their faces, it is all just wonderful. The smiles so broad that such a wonderfully happy day can be so much happier.

I’ve heard V many times by now but “Sugar” never registered, niw it is and now I hope it hits big for them,it is a happy go lucky slab of pop and Adam uses his falsetto to great effect. The beat is just so listener friendly, the song and video makes me feel fine all over. I’m on the record as a maroon 5 fan ever since seeing em at MSG in 2008. Last time I saw them they weren’t as great but you can’t have everything!
