Los Angeles DJ Paz Dylan Does The Best April Fools Day Prank Ever

This is probably the boldest and funniest thing I have seen lately: According to the LAWeekly (and other sources), LA DJ Paz Dylan has managed to swap every Justin Bieber CD in the city and replace it with his own. What an excellent April Fool’s day joke,… but how did he just do that??

I haven’t checked myself but many journalists have, and it seems that everyone who bought Bieber’s ‘Believe’ album on Tuesday April 1st in Los Angeles, didn’t exactly get what they expected. Dylan made some very believable ‘Believe’ covers, I mean they looked exactly identical to the original, barcode included, then put his own CD (some synth-heavy music mixed with rap called ‘From The Bottom Of My Heart To The Top Of Your Lungs’) inside, and infiltrated major retailers such as Wal-Mart, Target and Best Buy. How did he make all these Justin Bieber’s CDs disappear and replaced them by his? I am not sure, he certainly couldn’t afford to buy all that shit! What is certain is that everyone who tested the prank got a DJ Paz Dylan instead of a Biebs’ CD… I find this extremely funny.

Paz Dylan didn’t do this only for the fun, as he declared to the Associated Press: ‘We were meticulous. We paid a lot of attention to detail because we wanted these to stay up on shelves as long as possible. The general idea is that retail stores make it almost impossible for independent musicians to get their music in there. I’ve always believed that retail stores can be the best outlets and ambassadors for independent music. They just choose not to be and sell the same recycled [expletive]. We thought if they’re going to lock their doors to independent musicians, we’re just going to knock them down and get our music in there.’

I love it! Even though it is difficult to know how many copies have been swapped, Paz said to Billboard that he actually planted 5,000 fake ‘Believe’ copies! And it is not Paz’s first joke as he already glued photos of himself into the Grammy Museum last year, next to the Grammy winners. Go Paz!
