French Fancy – The Voyeurs – Starts like some form of Dandy Warhols rip and is the better for it but then goes dark – B
All The Earth Is Holy Ground – Tenth Avenue North – Except this jiggle joint near Yankee Stadium – C+
Something In My Heart – Royksopp – Bleeps a lot, not his greatest moment – C+
Lonely (But Not Alone) – Rob Cantor – A very gentle break up lullabye, depressing in the extreme, a couple in bed, one fast asleep the other thinking of the song. Beautiful but not as beautiful as he thinks except this version is – B-
Habits – The Rails – Close harmonies, more country than folk – B
Traillblazer – Oh Land – Swedish singer, again not quite there – B-
Closer – Nick Jonas, Mike Posner – New r&b, but Posner’s rap is weak and the hook doesn’t. This is big time stuff for Nick and I don’t see how it will cut it – C+
Lost On The River #20 – The New Basement Tapes – “The tears of a woman are hidden within as she moves from one to the next who spirit goes thin…” Self important rubbish, however Rhiannon Giddens can sure sing – C-
I Get Along without You Very Well – Marianne Faithfull – Excellent Sinatra torch song – A-
Take Me Through The Fire – Machine Head -I wish the singer was less metalcore, but the song is an exemplary rocker and a pounding piece of work – B+
Save Some Love – Liam Bailey – Lovely soul track, wonderful number – A-
Red Dawn – Knife Party – Revved up and reaches high, the break is excellent – B
Oddments – King Gizzard And the Lizard Wizard – Best 25 seconds of the day – B+
Bedford Falls – Knuckle Puck – Yes, pop punk fans, it is a wonderful life – B+
De Moca A Paris – Juan Luis Guerra – A superb horns blasting Merengue worthy of Grupo Mania, though older sounding – B+
The Red List – Hail Mary Mallon – The hok kinda sucks but the verses are ace and the joke at the end funny – B
I Am A River – Foo Fighters – Look, Grohl is rich and famous and well loved, nice family, sweet natured, best drummer of his generation, pals around with rock greats… but he can’t write rock songs and that’s that – D
Tragically Alright (feat Ariel Pink) – Ex Cops – A dog – D+
Long Long Way – Damien Rice – Kill me now – D+
Roses – Cult Of Youth – “Dark and pastoral” it sez here, famous last words but this isn’t bad folk mood music till the singing begins which isn’t till late and then it sucks – C+
Seeing Stars – Borns – Every song on the EP is a must hear, very catchy new pop for FM radio – B+
Mo Better Cool – Big K.R.I.T. – King of the South, soulful last song – B
Miss Camaraderie – Azealea Banks – Cool pop song, mostly hook, very catchy – B+
Rome Armed To The Teeth – Antemasque – Hey a good vocal and nice tempo, drums are cool, the break ruins it – B-
