Right now, Twitter is much cooler than Facebook, at least this appears to be the case, there’s more control and no ads, yeah, what do all these ads in my Facebook news feed come from? I can’t stand Dr. Oz anymore, isn’t it well understood?
But Twitter is changing nevertheless, it is introducing a music feature and according to the NY Times this feature ‘will use the listening habits of users’ friends and contacts to recommend music for them to listen to’.
However, the whole thing remains unclear for now, and the Times is suggesting an application scanning users’ Twitter feeds, updating their profiles and even posting tweets, alerting users about the music their friends are listening to.
In other words, Twitter will spy on me and my friends and contacts! Do we really need this? This is not why I use Twitter, and I don’t need any recommendation, thank you I can discover music myself! I actually despise all these services, probably because I don’t like to be told what to listen to. I have the impression all social media become one giant big brother spying on us more and more every day. Plus there is already Spotify doing that.
The service was first rumored to open just in time for Coachella, but the blog AllThingsD reported that it would be at first be opened only to influencers, such as Ryan Seacrest! Yeah, such a big influence in my life! Anyway, do we really need another suggestion from Twitter to listen to the last song from American idol?
