Former Lost Prophet singer Ian Watkins got busted for baby raping and is now up in arms over his 35 year sentence.  An attempt at appeal has proven fruitless.  According to the BBC Watkins council felt the 29 year sentence with extra time added was too harsh since despite the ‘depravity” show its not the ‘worse that could have happened’, wonder what ‘worse’ would have been?  There were no examples given

The judge tossed the appeal stating: “These were offences against infant children of such shocking depravity that a very lengthy sentence of imprisonment was demanded, not withstanding the absence of physical injury.

“It is not demonstrated that the total sentence of 29 years together with the extended licence period was arguably manifestly excessive. Accordingly, the application in his case is refused.”

Some of the charges against Watkins include the ‘attempted rape’ of an 11 month old girl and the encouraging a fan to sexually abuse her baby via web cam.  He also wad discovered to have a large collection of child pornography and child abuse tapes, some of the later include Watkins as participant.

No one likes a baby abuser but lets face it, it happens.  There are levels of ‘social taboo’ and this is pretty high up on the list.  There should be more focus placed on the mothers or fathers of these children who basically sacrificed them to a B grade musician.  A parents job is to protect from predators not offer them up.  Lets be sure some of that punishment makes it to the right people.
