The people for the ethical treatment of animals or PETA has done an adorable tribute to the mighty Morrissey in honor of the artists 55th birthday.
Stenciled on the ground outside Manchester UK’s infamous fast food joints is the “Meat Is Still Murder” stamp paying homage to the infamous Smiths tune. Moz, a long time animal activist has promoted PETA at all of his gigs and has just recently offered up the tune “I Know It’s Gonna Happen Someday’ to the causes most recent animated video campaign.
Morrissey has been more than outspoken on the topic of animal rights from slamming pet food giant IAMs to the repetition of the video horror of “Meet Your Meat” at his live shows. Bathed in red light he belts out the lyrics to Meat is Murder, and despite the idiot ic audience screams of “mmm steak”, he get’s his point across to those not blinded by ignorance.
Moz was PETAs 2010 ‘Person of The Year” and with good reason- the guy lives the ideals of the organization. “We’re certain that Moz will be delighted by our effort to clean up Manchester’s dirty pavements with our ‘Meat Is Still Murder’ message”, says PETA Associate Director Mimi Bekhechi. “Morrissey’s commitment to speaking up for animals is the real ‘light that never goes out’, and we look forward to celebrating his birthday for many more years to come.”
This new video is just as powerful despite its cute appearance. By the way .. stop eating meat, its really so passe’.
