Billie Joe Armstrong may be in rehab, and the band may have canceled their 2012 tour dates and even postponed their early 2013 shows, but this hasn't stopped Green Day to release a new single, ‘The Forgotten’, which will be featured on the soundtrack of upcoming teen sensation movie, ‘Twilight Saga: breaking Dawn Part 2’.
I've heard about the success of this Twilight series, but I have not seen any of the movies, and it’s certainly not this new Green Day’s sentimental ballad that is gonna give me any desire to go see it! The band has already done this type of slow number – think ‘Wake me Up When September Ends – abandoning any punk fiber that could have been left in their music, and going heavy on piano on strings with Billie Joe crooning over exhausted hooks, but this song may top all the previous ones! What a treacly boredom! Sorry Green Day’s fans, but this is very trite and cheesy, and probably very fitting for the Twilight movie.
The video shows footages of the upcoming movie, so I understand the strong appeal for passionate fans since the film will only be released on November 13, but honestly, it’s not even worth these five next minutes of your life.
