It seems that not long ago it was summer, and now we are approaching the end of the year! It’s crazy to think we are already thinking about 2013, and its upcoming releases. But what are the most anticipated 2013 albums? There are a few of them already announced:
Black Sabbath: At the beginning of this week Black Sabbath has announced that their next album would be due for a April release to coincide with the band’s first tour in Australia in 40 years. This is what can be read on their website: ‘Black Sabbath is currently recording their first new studio album in more than 33 years, helmed by seven-time Grammy winning producer, Rick Rubin. The album is due for release in April 2013.’
Sleigh Bells announced on Halloween day that they were half-way through the new record, since ‘Success never paralyzes us’ explained Alexis Krauss. Three songs are already completed and Miller described the sound of the album to the Huffington Post as ‘a lot more clean’, Krauss described her vocals as more 'melodically with a hint of R&B’, and overall the album ‘may sound surprising’. No date has been announced yet.
Arcade Fire has also been preparing a new album for quite some time, and drummer Jeremy Gara revealed a few days ago that their fourth effort is tentatively due out in late 2013, so 3 years after their Grammy Award-winning third album, ‘The Suburbs’. Gara explained, when speaking with CKCU 93.1 in Ottawa: ‘We are just working like we always have. We took a couple months off and we've been writing songs. Now we're in the studio pretty much full-time just doing what we do. And we kind of shut the door. We haven't really gone out and done anything in over a year now. We haven't done photos or interviews or anything. We're just working on music and growing beards and living at home a lot and going out to dinner together.’
Queens of the Stone Age is also about to release a highly anticipated album. And the new material has been described as ‘badass’ and ‘really cool’ by Eagles of Death Metal’s Jesse Hughes who declared to NME: ‘The shit I've heard from the new Queens album is so badass. It's really cool. It's the kinda shit that makes John Holmes [legendary porn star] have a bigger dick and he's dead, so that's pretty rad.’ I don’t know what he is talking about but it has been 6 years since ‘Era Vulgaris’!
And there are many other albums to come from Motley Crue, Rob Zombie, Pearl Jam, Judas Priest, Eminem, Alice in Chains, Tool, Nine Inch Nails, The Black Keys, Depeche Mode, Daft Punk, Lady Gaga and this isn't over!
