Death comes to everyone and for awhile I was really paying attention and writing them down and then I got sick of it and stopped. it was too depressing. But some deaths need to be noted… firstly, a few personal ones.
Maamoun Hammour – My Uncle was a lost breed, a succesful business man and a pillar of his community untill he lost his wife and began his own inevitable fade. The man was all backbone.
Donna McElroy – a rock nyc partner, who we watched slip away from us over a period of 18 months.
Missy Huerta – rock nyc writer Edward Huerta’s wife death has left all of us who loes the couple, meaning everyone who knows them, reeling.
Bobby Keys – the great and wild saxophonist, I saw him at Highline a coupla years ago. he was phenomenal, the rest of the band not so much. His work with the stones makes you wonder why they didn’t make him a member of the band.
Ian McLagan – I saw him at Joe’s Pub perform a spot on solo show highlighted with the other Ian’s ,
Gerry Goffin – wrote the words to some of the great songs of the early 1960s, repayed by being insulted on Broadway.
Joe Cocker –whaaaaat would you do …
Robert Young – Primal Scream guitarist… he was pretty great.
Bobby Womack – Soul giant
Jack Bruce – Bassist extraordinaire
Tommy Ramone – The drummer
Phil Everly – The younger one
Casey Kasem – Scooby Doo
Maria Von Trapp – She was 99 years old!
Pete Seeger – Commie bastard
Jimmy Ruffin – “What Becomes Of The Lonely Hearted” singer.
