Last year FKA (formally known as ) twig was Glasslands, last week she was playing Webster Hall and this November she will be at Terminal 5, all part of a wave after wave of terrific press following the release of her debut animal LP 1, which I myself dubbed Album Of  The Week, is busy living up to the hype.
Yeah, the woman has steam heat and her new album… well this is what Pitchfork had to say: “One minute it’s a flash-frozen sigh; the next, it’s a melon-balled dollop of flesh. As futuristic as her music is, no single technology dominates. Elastic digital effects brush up against 808s, and icy synth stabs share space with acoustic bass,” well, why write when you can over write and what is a fresh frozen sigh any way, if you don’t mind me asking? Or icy synths? Â Or a melon-balled dollop of flesh?
Well, we know Pitchfork are nitwits so why belabor the point when the point is FKA twig is playing T5 November 8th,  a Saturday so somebody knows what they are doing.
Something else, and I mean this as a compliment, does FKAT sound like Sade or what? Maybe sounds is too strong a word, have a similar minimalist vibe. I wrote Tricky but it is more like Sade fronting Massive Attack, which might explain why she can be so out there and yet sound so pop.
Saturday November 8th, eh?
