Next Tuesday, Drake and Lil Wayne are coming to Forest Hills Stadium and I got a tix despite being disappointed the last time I saw Drake and not being a huge fan of Lil Wayne but I couldn’t resist it because while they’ve grown into the habit of going on stage two hours after the published time, Forest Hills has zoning law which means they can’t pull that shit. It is a two hour and fiften minutes set and so with a 10pm curfew they’ll have to go on stage 745pm.
The set is gonna be for the under 25s and I am well over 50 so for me, getting out by 10 (actually, I’ll leave at 945) is a big deal. I can’t take hanging out for fucking hours on end waiting for a band to hit the stage and these kinda stars are arrogant by definition (Drake is so arrogant he’s depressed by how arrogant he is) they are always dicking about in the dressing room playing snap whikle 17K paying fans are cooling their heels. But not Tuesday, right?
The setlist is huge but it isn’t really, the Young Money owner and the Young Money principle star will rap just their verse on many a song. And while the battle of the rap stars concept (yes, they’ve got an app for that) may be a little on the lame side, I am hardly the target audience by any stretch of the imagination.
And even with every buyer beware in the world, both Drizzy and Weezy have enough great songs between them to suggest this will be great music on worst behavior.
I got a pretty good seat for $100 on Stubhub.
