Elton Johns Biopic, In The Works

Elton Elliot
Elton Elliot

So by now we all know that Elton John has a biopic on the horizon.  A story of birth to rehab and all the crazy feather antics in between.  I personally preferred the addicted John, once he came clean and stepped fully out of the closet he became nothing more than a queer cliche’ completely void of the unique persona he has previously.

Lee Hall, whose previous work includes the mega hit Billy Elliot,  is the writer of  Rocketman  and had tons to say to the BBC “I’ve been working on it with Elton for long time. It’s an absolutely huge, crazy technicolor affair,”  “[It’s] about all the trouble he got into.”
Elton offered up the resources to help Hall get into character,
“One day, he took me to his house and opened a safe and he had all his private diaries that nobody had seen from when he was in rehab and left me there to read all this stuff,” he said.   “But he’s never commented once on the script, he hasn’t interfered at all.”
The writer compared John to Billy Elliot, his creation and cash cow
“The more I talked to Elton, the more I realized that he was Billy Elliot. He went to the Royal Academy when, I think, he was about 13 and he was studying to be a classical pianist and he discovered Elvis Presley and the rest is history,” he explained.

“But I think it’s about the struggles that he had, coming from the wrong end of the tracks, with his sexuality. It’s what happened next to Billy Elliot, a sequel in a way.”

Wait what.. a Billy Elliot sequel?  I think thats the more disturbing issue.  Let well enough alone.
