Duran Duran Sues Fan Club

Duran Duran havent done anything monumental for decades. Having had a good career in the 80s has afforded them the ability to mili that for all its worth for years apparently. What stuns me to begin with is that they actually have a fan club. My thoughts being thats the 40 something women who lusted after front man Simon LeBon ‘back in the day’. Now suburban soccer moms this may be their sole connection to their neon legwarmer, shoulder pad wearing past.
But seems DD is getting ripped off by the company that runs its clubs. The charge is inaccurate accounting and failure to pay its royalties. See what happens here is a band hires a company to collect memberships and sell its merch. In the case of DD they were to get 75% of the profit but the til was a bit light. $40,000.00 light to be exacted (does that number seem sort of low to you?) So Duran Duran is in court to get that 40 grand back.
In a statement on their Facebook the band said:
“Duran Duran value and respect their many fans around the world and feel compelled to correct the media’s misrepresentation of its lawsuit against Worldwide Fan Clubs, Inc. The Band emphatically states that the lawsuit is not against its loyal fans but simply seeks to protect its rights against the company that formerly managed its fan club.
“Duran Duran have now brought their official fan community in-house and continue to make every effort to provide the highest level of service.”
