The International Olympic Committee (IOC) forbids athletes from taking part in advertising for anyone except the 11 international companies that pay around $100 million each for four years of global rights to sponsor the Olympics.
So how come so many Olympic athletes are sporting the high priced 'Beats' headphones? Cuz Dr. Dre is a genius, he set up a spot outside the Olympic village and gave them to athletes. Poof, free advertising and no infringement on the Olympic rules.Want to know the top 11? I'll tell ya at the end, but I bet there are allot of other infractions occurring..
A spokesmen from the exclusive club, Shoreditch House, near the Olympic Park confirmed the Beats had set up a collection point there for invited athletes.
IOC spokesman Mark Adams said officials were aware of Dr. Dre’s offer to athletes from about 20 nations but stressed it was up to each national Olympic team to ensure athletes protected the sponsors. They became aware when athletes were showing up back at the compound sporting beats in their countries colors. Well done, Dre!
