Don't Miss: Jack Phillips November 6th At The Beluga Bar

Mr. Sophistication Is back
Mr. Sophistication Is back

The piano man who should be as big as any piano man, the songwriter who you could mention int the same breath as Elton John and the American Standards song and dance man who Bobby Short woulda loved, has been off the scene for the past year.

Yes, Jack Phillips fell of the face and I haven’t seen him since I caught his four piece band at “Don’t Tell Mama’s” in 2013. I’ve missed him, Jack has a great blues album in the works and he is such a perfectionist he won’t stop fidgeting and bring it out and otherwise. Has he been in London? L.A.?

Well, he fell off the face of the earth, that’s all I know and now he is back: “Please come help celebrate my birthday — I will entertain you at the piano (solo) with some original pop songs I’ve written over the past 30+ years….”

Sounds cool, eh?

It is at The Beluga Bar on 75 Murray Street. The place looks terrific, sleek and cool (and maybe expensive) and the music will go from High Society to less high society and should be a blast, ask for “The Old Grey Hat”.

I certainly hope this means my friend is back in action., the world needs more of Jack Phillips, a man who gives his music everything possible for the joy of creation.
