Carlos Santana Compares Pitbull To Queen

oh my corazon

Yes, you read that correctly.  Pitbull the Latin rapper with self imposed suave has paired up with Santana for a new project called Corazon.

The album is a Latin version of Santana’s smash 1999 hit album ‘Supernatural,’and debuted in the Billboard Top 10 this week.  Carols credits Pitbull for helping that happen with his version of  ‘Oye Como Va’  priceless.  But the quote is the killer on this interesting story,

“I’m so grateful to him ’cause I think he tried it, like, close to 20 times,” Santana tells ABC News Radio. “I feel so grateful that he invested such diligence, and willingness to do this. Everything that he does becomes like halftime at the Super Bowl, or the NBA. He’s like the new Queen and Rolling Stones of today, because every time you want your team to pick up the energy, they play that music, y’know? So that’s what Pitbull is: he’s, like, the arena energy person.”

It took Pitbull 20 takes on this tune.  I’m hoping they’re speaking of the entire track and not just the vocals.  I’m sure its pretty tough to sing a song without shouting out locations so that may be the problem.  Come to think of it, I wonder where he threw in his shouts of “dale!”

Other artists include Gloria Estefan (who shows up on every Latin album every time) and Ziggy Marley (say what?) and Miguel.  The album was released on May 14, check out the tune that took twenty takes.  I wonder how originator Tito Puentes feels about that.
