Bethany Consentino Is On Next Weezer's Album

This now makes total sense to me, although I hadn’t really thought about it before. And I should have because it is actually an old story. According to Consequence of Sound, Rivers Cuomo did declare this in 2010 – and it had escaped me: ‘I’m getting together with Bethany Cosentino from Best Coast and we’re going to write a song. You never know where these songs are going to end up but it could be on the next Weezer record.’

Beside the fact that two had already been on stage together as Cosentino joined Cuomo on stage during a song at Los Angeles’ Gibson Amphitheater, when her band was opening for Weezer a few years ago, they co-wrote a new tune, ‘Go Away’ together and it will apparently appear on Weezer’s upcoming album, ‘Everything Will Be Alright in the End’. Cosentino herself couldn’t have been happier as she announced it on Instagram, ‘Well — I co-wrote + am featured on a song on the new Weezer album. So basically, all my teenage dreams have officially come true.’

When watching this teaser below showing Bethany and Rivers harmonizing together, I realized it made totally sense,… , it now strikes me that Best Coast has actually always sounded like a Weezer wannabe, these same fuzzy and vaguely surf-y guitars and this same sunny delivery – she curiously has a very similar tone of voice, and should I mention the same simple lyrics? ‘Go away, don’t come back here anymore’… No doubt that these two belong to each other. We will get the full song on October 7th with the release of the Weezer album produced by Ric Ocasek.
