Can we just stop this crap already? I dont know when or how Arcade Fire became so popular but it’s time for the reality bus to pick up the sheep get things under control.
Win Butlers vocals have never met a note it could match so it always becomes this sort of straining whine. Is it deep emotion or too much ego that pinches his chords and causes such pain? Never has his tone deaf issue been more clear than in this interesting live video from their Georgia concert. As the band attempts to pay tribute to REM- they drop a classic tune into the toilet.
Sped up and out of tune “Radio Free Europe” makes me wish I too were radio free so I didnt have t hear it. Apparently Mr Butler is also sporting some face paint as REM’s Michael Stipe did in days gone by but to me- it’s mockery more than tribute.
The fans ate it up of couse since if you are not an Arcade Fire fan youre just not cool and if you dont love every idiotic thing they do- you suck. I prefer to suck and be uncool than blindly follow a band who takes indie music and makes more awful than any mainstream act I’ve heard in decades. But that’s the appeal right, to be so ahead of the curve that some just dont ‘get it’. I consider it a blessing that I dont get it.
I predict this band will run it’s due course, leave behind a couple songs to be remembered by and disappear for good. Now if we could just speed that along so I can stop hearing horrible remakes I would be a happy girl
