Anne Husick's "The Other" Side Reviewed

Great new song
Great new song

Man, does Anne Husick have a sexy voice. It sounds like it should be deeper and huskier and it isn’t deeper so it colors this bluesy well crafted groove of a track and it isn’t deeper so it is flexible and full of stamina and power and a “hoo hoo” from left field can sound like a come on.

“The Other Side” has a horn solo to die for and keyboards in the center and a strong gravitational pull of a beat meanwhile Anne’s vocal is a real beauty.

So who is she? I got this from the PR release off Worldwide Vibe records (where the great Phil Gammage records):

Recorded in the autumn of 2014 with master musicians Robert Aaron (sax/keyboards), Don Fiorino (lap steel), and Kevin Tooley (drummer, who also wears the engineer/producer hat) “The Other Side” combines elements of rock, pop, and folk into a unique melting pot of melody and rhythm.

Anne Husick has worn many hats in the music biz – from singer/songwriter/musician to soundperson to booking agent/party promoter. She started performing with her first band Ground Control at CBGB in 1981. Anne has stayed in the game thru stints as guitarist for NY indie art-noise darlings Band of Susans, multi-instrumentalist/backing singer for Ronnie Spector (Ronettes), bass player for the NY and Chicago productions of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and co-writer and guitarist for former Dead Can Dance percussionist Peter Ulrich. Aside from currently playing bass in Red Gretchen (One of 30 Most Promising Acts of 2014!! – Aquarian Weekly) Anne has been focused on writing and performing her own songs relevant to the world and her position in it.”

Some resume, right? Add this single near the top of em!
