At 75 years of age, Peter Stampfel’s latest song, on cooler than we are Don Giovanni Records, “NSA Man” finds the former hippie violinist folkie as great as ever. The new album is gonna kill it, I promise and the opportunity to see him in the cramped Mercury Lounge on Thursday is a huge huge thrill.
Monday – Local H – Mercury Lounge – You remember them? The as good as dead duo are excellent live, I saw em at MSG opening for STP and they were much better.
Monday – Avey Tare’s Slasher Flicks – Bowery Ballroom – The Animal Collective guy, I wasn’t thrilled but you might be.
Tuesday – Boy George – Irving Plaza – The buzz on the newbie is pretty loud, he is off drugs now, and it is a small venue
Tuesday – 5 Seconds Of Summer – Best Buy – “She Looks So Perfect” has passed the 5 million streams and the next time you will be seeing them is at Metlife opening for 1D, so here is your big chance.
Thursday – Sebastian Bach – BB King – Would I go? Well know, but if you like this stuff you could do worse.
Friday – EMA – Mercury Lounge – Those late night weekend gigs at Mercury are pretty damn good. Following Perfect Pussy and the Coathangers, here is the experimental guitar electronic woman EMA.
Saturday – Slaughterhouse – Best Buy – Terrific when I saw em in NJ a coupla years ago, these guys were the hip hop crew to beat.
Sunday – YG – Irving Plaza – One of the better rap albums of the year under his belt, catch him real life gangsta really live on stage.
