Listen to Thee Oh Sees Covering The Velvet Underground's ‘European Son’

You can now listen to Thee Oh Sees’ cover of ‘European Son’, recorded for an upcoming Velvet Underground tribute album.

As expected, the seven and half minute psychedelic-noise song fits the San Francisco garage band like a glove! Don’t they already incarnate every unconventional, freakout, weird facet of a song like this one?

Speaking to Spin magazine, frontman John Dwyer said: ‘It's always a little threatening to take on material I consider perfect as is. The only rule being, don't fuck it up’. And they didn't fuck it up at all.

I have always found the velvet Underground song being a total freakish number, and Thee Oh Sees certainly stayed close to the spirit of the original. ‘I thought it was a great closer for that album’, added Dwyer, ‘I figured I could ride the noise-wave pretty far on that particular tune.’ The imagery of the noise wave is actually a very good one for this surf-chaotic-rocker, as the track is close to noisy insane! So ride it below, and check out the complete tracklist of ‘The Velvet Underground & Nico’ by Castle Face And Friends .
