There were tons of rumors that The Smiths would be reuniting. The buzz so strong in fact that the UK was offering up speculative dates. What utter nonsense.
Johnny Marr has point blank squelched that snap "The rumor of the Smiths reunion is untrue. It's not happening " Ok then that's point blank enough. Morrissey of course is far too busy to be in a band anyway. He's busy making a ruckus and making great quotes like
"We all live in a murderous world, as the events in Norway have shown, with 97 dead. Though that is nothing compared to what happens in McDonald's and Kentucky Fried S*** every day."
a gotta love a guy who compares mass murder to fast food!!
The Smiths were one of those bands that we will love because they fit in their time so well. The Smiths were a great example of the turning point of new wave/emo/alt. They were a bridge of brilliance, so to speak. A band I will always love and never ever want to age.
Similarly I would love to see Adam Ant again, but never ever would want to see Adam and The Ants- it would be ridiculous. So this latest squash of rumor is a-ok with me!
