am not sure about this one, the resemblance is pretty weak, but Brazilian artist Joao Brasil is accusing Madonna of plagiarism. He is claiming that his song ‘L.O.V.E. Banana’ sounds kind of similar to Madonna’s latest single ‘Give Me All Your Luvin’.
It is true that the sort of cheerleading chorus shouting ‘Banana’ reminds the ‘Madonna’ in the other song, but beside this, it is difficult to see a real closeness.
But just claim anything of this nature and suddenly we are all talking about it!
This is what Brasil declared to the Brazilian newspaper Folha da Sao Pauolo:
‘I still don’t understand what happened. I’m a huge fan of hers. If it’s plagiarism, then even better. She is always at the cutting edge of music, so it’s a good sign about what I do. It’s in [the record label's] hands, they’re looking at how to proceed and what they can do. But personally I don’t want to do anything. The last thing I need in my life is a fight with Madonna.’
Good to know he is not planning a lawsuit (at least this is what I get from his last line) because I doubt he would win! But what it is with this ‘Madonna at the cutting edge of music’? She is not, especially if you pretend she is copying this dumb pop song suggesting having sex with a banana, how groundbreaking!
